March 2016

Posted by david on March 9, 2016

How does one write a year's worth of blessing, opportunities for service, and general privilege in a few paragraphs? We don't know either! But we very much wish to communicate with those who follow our erratic blog because we appreciate you all so much, and we're constantly thrilled with all that we get to do in this part of God's planet for God's eternal purposes.

For eye ease and some brevity we think we'll post several photos along with some brief explanations this time around, and with a generous helping of thanksgiving for those who support what we do financially, for those who visit and bless our region with their abilities, and for those who also pray for us and our region's people.

The new Clinic building first floor is completed and in use!

In October we inaugurated and began doing consultations here. In our last blog we showed it to you still under construction. Having more space allows for caring for more patients and better organization, and we have space for additional tasks. A recently donated ultrasound machine, for example, will be installed very soon.

Ralph and Ann Classen, besides doing medical work also made curtains and bed/chair covers.

And we have plans and hopes for continuing to update and improve our services, both in our area with the  permanent Clinic as well as to our indigenous villages that we do regular outreaches to.

Here's Dr. Dave Ness with James and Diana Bryant, and the panels for beginning construction on the second level of the Clinic. If you wish to see how you could help finish this project with us then take a look here: Roca Blanca Medical Mission - Drs. Dave and Mary Kay Ness.

Continuing to reach our indigenous villages

There have been many trips up into our indigenous mountains and coastal groups this year, too many to try to name. And many groups that have come and helped us reach these areas with medicine and the rich truths of Christ.

We start each one with a time of scripture and prayer for that day's activities.

While our hosts are preparing the home made tortillas to go with the meals, we begin to see patients.

Our Clinic dentist, Dr. Adriana Infanzón, accompanies us on some trips.

There are almost always children that are pleased to have a program with songs, skits, games, and crafts, even in the most remote villages.

And often our Spanish school students participate in these medical brigades - a blessing to the team and a valuable cultural experience.

Moringa Project!

Here is something special that we're excited about introducing into poor nutrition areas as a great dietary supplement. This is a moringa tree in our back yard, one that we keep short so we can harvest its leaves regularly. They're extremely nutritious, and taste quite nice, especially the leaves, and are able to grow well in our tropical weather and in good or poor soil.

We've been germinating hundreds of these, and giving them away all over our village. Recently we prepared thirty seedlings to go up to our Ixtayutla area as a project done by ORU nursing students studying with us.

The nursing students made their presentation, translated to the regional Mixteco dialect. When Pastor Miguel in El Mosco asked who wanted a moringa tree, everyone responded enthusiastically, and the thirty plants got gone immediately! We have seventy more baby trees now ready at his request, which will be taken up and distributed there within the next few weeks.

How could we begin to do what we're privileged to do here without you! Please receive our heartfelt thanks.

We have a wonderful Lord and Savior!

His grace and peace to you today,

Dave and Laura

Hello, David and Laura.

It is so good to get your update! It was great to be able to see you in January, even if only very briefly. We rejoice with you in what the Lord is doing through both of you and the ministry there! Continued blessings on your lives and service.
